Trendmill

Connect your AI

Ask Claude, ChatGPT or your own agent what your competitors are doing, with answers you can check.

Trendmill runs an MCP server, the standard way AI assistants connect to outside tools. Connect it once and your assistant can search your competitors' campaigns, read brand profiles, check the sale calendar and score drafts, scoped to your organisation. Every answer links back to the emails and ads behind it, so you can check it.

The server address is:

https://trendmill.ai/api/mcp

Connect

Works in claude.ai, Claude Desktop and the Claude mobile apps.

  1. Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Paste https://trendmill.ai/api/mcp as the URL and press Add.
  3. Press Connect, sign in to Trendmill and choose the workspace to connect. Press Allow.

There's no client ID or secret to copy. On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds the connector for the organisation first.

  1. Open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Choose Create, paste https://trendmill.ai/api/mcp as the URL and pick OAuth.
  3. Sign in to Trendmill, choose the workspace and press Allow.
claude mcp add --transport http trendmill https://trendmill.ai/api/mcp

Then run /mcp, pick trendmill and choose Authenticate.

Any MCP client that supports streamable HTTP can connect. Clients that support OAuth sign in the same way as Claude. For clients that don't, use an API key:

{
	"mcpServers": {
		"trendmill": {
			"type": "http",
			"url": "https://trendmill.ai/api/mcp",
			"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <your-api-key>" }
		}
	}
}

What to ask

Start broad, then drill in. Some questions that work well:

  • "What did my competitors do in the last 30 days compared with the month before?"
  • "Which Meta ads did my competitors launch this month, and what are they offering?"
  • "Write a one-page brief on [competitor]: cadence, offers, voice, recent sends."
  • "When did my category start discounting before the last Click Frenzy, and how deep did it go?"
  • "Score this subject line and body against the beauty category." (paste your draft)
  • "Save the five deepest offers this week to a folder called Promo watch."

In Claude and ChatGPT, results for content, brands, scores and the calendar appear as interactive cards in the chat. Text-only clients get the same data as text.

Built-in prompts

Your assistant also gets four ready-made prompts. Hosts show them as slash commands or in the prompt menu:

  • Competitor brief: a full write-up on one brand.
  • Weekly competitor recap: what the brands you follow did this week.
  • Score my draft: check a draft against its category.
  • Plan promo timing: when your category goes loud, and when it's quiet.

Tools

ToolWhat it does
trendmill_get_competitor_pulseWhat the brands you follow did over a window, against the window before
trendmill_search_contentSearch the library by words or meaning, with filters, sorted by newest or deepest discount
trendmill_get_contentOne piece in full: copy, analysis, screenshot and the most similar pieces
trendmill_search_brandsFind brands, with how much we hold on each
trendmill_get_brand_profileA brand's cadence, offers, voice, techniques, distinctiveness and recent sends
trendmill_list_followed_brandsYour organisation's followed brands
trendmill_get_promo_calendarDay-by-day sends, offers, discount depth and retail moments, up to 92 days
trendmill_get_category_meanA category's benchmark: technique shares, trait averages and clichés
trendmill_score_draftScore a draft against its category
trendmill_list_collectionsYour saved folders, or the pieces in one
trendmill_save_to_collectionSave pieces to a folder, creating it if needed

Every tool except trendmill_save_to_collection only reads. That one adds to folders and never removes anything, so your assistant asks before using it.

The server also publishes a methodology guide, so your assistant can explain how a number was made. It matches How the numbers work.

Access and privacy

  • Your assistant sees what you see in Trendmill: the shared library, plus your organisation's followed brands and folders. It can't see other organisations' follows or folders.
  • When you connect, you choose one workspace. If you leave that organisation, the connection stops working straight away.
  • Remove the connector in your assistant's settings to disconnect it.
