Score
Check a draft email against its category before you send it.
Score tells you whether a draft email reads like everything else in its category, or stands apart. Use it before a send, when you want to know if your "30% off everything new" will disappear into the inbox.
Score a draft
Pick the category
Under Measure against, choose the category to compare with. Pick the one your customers would put you in.
Paste the draft
Enter the subject line and paste the body. Plain text is enough. Images and layout aren't measured.
Read the result
Score places the draft on the category's distribution and explains why.
Reading the result
Distinctiveness percentile (0–100). The share of the category's real emails that sit closer to the category mean than your draft does. 90 means your draft is more distinctive than 90% of what the category sends.
| Percentile | Verdict |
|---|---|
| Below 25 | Reads like the category |
| 25 to 74 | Typical |
| 75 and up | Distinct |
A low score is a caution, not a failure. Sometimes sounding like the category is what you want. The point is to know.
Clichés in this draft. Phrases in your draft that the category leans on. Each one opens the real emails that use it.
How it compares. Each measured trait of your draft against the category mean: subject length, subject words, capitalisation, numbers, percent signs, questions and emoji in the subject, reading grade and vocabulary variety. Traits far from the mean are the ones making your draft unusual, in either direction.
Closest real sends. The emails in Trendmill that your draft most resembles. Open them to see who has already said what you're about to say.
History
Every draft scored in your organisation is kept with its result, newest first. Switch between Mine and Everyone to see the team's. Load an old draft back into the composer to rework it, or delete it.
When Score won't score
If a category has fewer than 30 emails, or its benchmark is being rebuilt, Score says so and doesn't guess. Pick a broader category, or try again later.
